30 Sources of Unclaimed Property
3On average, people in North America move every 5 years. We provide our address to our bank, our insurance company, our schools, our doctors and dentists, stores where we shop, and even restaurants or other places of entertainment that offer us prizes to encourage our use of their services. With so many places to inform about address changes, is it any wonder that we and our money get separated?
Here’s where some of the $40 billion in unclaimed funds originates.

Moving often produces unclaimed funds
- Dormant savings and checking accounts and other bank instruments such as certificates of deposit
- Abandoned safe deposit boxes
- Uncashed money orders, cashier’s checks, and traveler’s checks
- Uncashed checks
- Unused gift certificates
- Undelivered oil and gas royalty payments
- Undelivered dividends and bond interest
- Lost stock certificates
- Lost savings bonds
- Unclaimed security deposits for housing and cars
- Unclaimed utility deposits
- Abandoned customer deposits for layaway items, overpayments, credit balances, and refunds
- Unclaimed court deposits
- Undelivered bankruptcy court settlements
- Insurance overpayments
- Probate court judgments
- Property overlooked during the probate of an estate
- Undelivered life insurance premium rebates
- Uncashed death benefits and life insurance proceeds
- Unpaid health and accident insurance payments
- HUD/FHA refunds
- Unclaimed escrow deposits
- Undelivered trust funds
- Unclaimed tax rebates
- Unclaimed settlements from class action suits
- Undeliverable income tax refunds
- Unclaimed pensions
- Undelivered demutualization proceeds
- Amounts due for undelivered goods or services
- Unpaid commissions and royalties
And that’s just some of the possibilities in case you were wondering.

The address you provided is an email address not a website so I can’t really understand in what way my site comes up. There is no claim with your name on this site. You should be in touch with Wells Fargo by email at the address they gave you. I don’t have any connection to Wells Fargo so I can’t help you with this.
